Lying there fighting
for every breath
while outside their loved
ones wept.
Inconsolable families
cannot believe the news
while medical staff weep
at the length of the queues.
An unseen terror hit
with truly little warning
and now all around the world
communities are mourning.
Countries are fighting hard
against its spread
but to no effect for the thousands
who will end up dead.
The human race which thought
itself smart
has been left scratching its head
wondering where to start.
