Back on Track

Trying to learn from

the mistakes I have made

before it’s too late

and their memories fade.

Time is running out

to get my life back on track

there’s so much I’ve said

I wish I could take back.

Apologies mean nothing

if expressed without truth

and lies hurt more now

then back in my youth.

The years have passed by

without any pause

and what I have achieved

gives no cause for applause.
