yourself to hide away
afraid to let others in
through fear of
what they might say.
The longer it has gone on
the lonelier you have become,
until you can’t remember
what it is your hiding from.
The dreams you once had
have faded into the distance
along with the memories
of the time that you
should have listened.
A solitary man who will
never attain happiness
all because he was ashamed
to show his own weakness.
