Her Face

Her face in my dreams

is beginning to fade

as the days turn to years

and years to decades.

Memories of the life

we once shared

disappear and what

remains leaves me scared.

How I would love

to be able to return

so that from my mistakes

I would be able to learn.

It is always too late

to count the cost

of a love you have

mistreated and then lost.

Now as you are

left here alone

you are haunted by

a past that you can’t disown.

  2. Very affecting. I’m terrified I will one day feel this way.
