Forgetful

Your face is familiar,

but I can’t give it a name

I sense we might

have history,

but I don’t remember it

to my shame.

Did we share a brief kiss

on a dark night

or did your brother and I

once have a fight?

Do we share a secret

that we swore

we would never tell,

or did I buy

something off you

that you didn’t

want to sell?

Racking my brain

but your name

remains a mystery,

yet you know mine

which only adds

insult to injury.

These passing years

have not being kind

to this aging man and

his forgetful mind.
