Why do we Judge others ? Do we have the right ?

Why do we judge others ? Do we have the right ?
“Judge not, that ye be not judged” Matthew 7:1

It’s 3.5 minute read,GO ahead if you have time & inclination.Thank you.

I am not talking about friends & relatives judging us or vice versa.

I am talking about people we come across in our day-to-day life, whom we know nothing about.( unknown to us )

It is but natural for all of us to judge the other person with an electrifying speed !

How do we judge a person ?

By appearance= Facial-ugly or beautiful ..Body build=fat or thin ?

Body Language ?

By color ? Whether smiled or not ? By hairstyle ?

By Behavior ?   By  person’s dress ? By seeing the tattoos and piercings ?

Is it true that ‘ First impression is the best impression’ ?

And  later on many times we felt sorry that our first impression went horribly wrong!

Then why we jump to judge people ? Do we have any right ?

Probable reasons for rushing to Judgment …..

Is it because of fear of the unknown?

Is it because…I can never go wrong, (mind-set)

Is it because we think we are superior and at the top of pyramid and rest are lesser mortals ?

Is it because ,we are insecure about ourselves?

Are we not lying to ourselves by judging others ?  The answer is ……

“Judge me if you want, but at the end of my life, I choose to have memories not regrets.”  Steve Maraboli

Read this story

A 24-year-old boy seeing out from the train window, shouted…

“Dad look the trees are going behind!”,dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…”dad,look..the clouds are running with us!”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…”why don’t you take your son to a good doctor ?”.The old man smiled and said….I did and we are just coming from the hospital,my son was blind from the birth,he just got his eyes today…”

Every single person on the planet has a story.

Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.

“Judge tenderly, if you must. There is usually a side you have not heard, a story you know nothing about, and a battle waged that you are not having to fight.” Traci Lea LaRussa11

Judging the other in a flash of second…….I call it blind Judgement.

“Judging others make us blind.where as love is illuminating.By judging others we blind ourselves to our own ( short comings ) and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  1. Oh yeah we make snap judgments all the time. But judgments so quickly formed should be treated just as so – “easy come, easy go” like the wind. Insignificant.
But people like to think they know everything, that doing things quickly is the mark of brilliance, but not necessarily doing things “correctly”.
People would do well to remember that we are not only our appearances, or our words, or our deeds, or our intentions, or our emotions, or our memories. We can’t possibly know everything, and it’s stupid to think that way because then you totally close yourself off to experiencing the many magnificant wonders of the world and it’s people.

    1. Couldn’t agree more .Somewhere egoistic tendency adds to the fuel. You rightly said about the peopleas you said, individual is not just by appearance. Words, deeds, intentions, emotions etc… Every thing is covered. So not to take hasty judgement.Thank you Kalliope for your wonderful insight

      1. All good. It’s nice to have my words appreciated 😀 but remember, we’re human and are guilty of the same stuff. Self awareness doesn’t change anything, unless you do something. Be the change you want to see in the world 💎

  2. Very true. It does take time to learn non-judgment. Not easy it is so ingrained in us.
