The Birthday Party

An invitation

to a birthday party,

it’s not every day

that someone turns thirty.

Already looking

for an excuse,

People will think

that I am a recluse.

If I go I will have to

wear a mask

to hide from things

that may be asked.

The tedium

of boring conversation

regarding

the sorry state of the nation.

Followed by

an awkward silence

encouraged

by my shyness.

Maybe I could say

I lost the invite

and act my best

to sound contrite.

  1. Into my arms, forlorn, come back into my arms.

  2. Yeah. I haven’t set it up yet. So… don’t worry about the invite just yet.. I’ll launch when I launch I guess.
