Mars

Twisting, turning sleep will not arrive.

Wide awake, you decide to go for a drive.

Get in the car and head out into the night

street lights are on but no one’s in sight.

Drive to the mountains where it is dark

find the clearing with the view, then park.

Leave the engine on to generate heat

pull the lever to adjust your seat.

Lying back you look at the stars

and for a moment you think you see Mars.

For four nights now you have parked here

to try to learn to control all your fears.

  3. The eternity does give me comfort, even if I just walk out my door and look up at the twinkling multitude. Mars is there, many nights-like a long lost relative.
