Does Love mean suffering ? What is your definition of Love ?

Does Love mean suffering ?
“The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.”                                                                                                                                                             ― Bob Marley

What is that all the religions, teach us about  L O V E?

As per Bob Morley’s Wisdom, Everybody is going to hurt you.

I think he is correct  because we expect too much from the ones ,we love ( a bit selfish attitude ,I say ) and in turn feel hurt if they are not up to our expectation.  (again a selfish motive)

“To love is to suffer.

To avoid suffering one must not love.

But then one suffers from not loving.

Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer.

To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy.

Therefore, to be happy one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.” — Woody Allen

Are you confused ? Is too much happiness also a suffering ?

I know you don’t have an answer.Neither I have  !

But my guess is…. don’t love too much or too little, and at the same time don’t not expect anything in return.Don’t presume or assume.

Is this not strange that the very word   ‘L O V E’  makes some of us

experience ‘Heaven’ and some other ‘Hell’

How can  L O V E  have dual power…. ie adorable & destructive ?

What is your take ? Please share your thoughts.Have you ever suffered because of

L O V E ?

    1. Ich stimme voll zu. Danke. Beide Partner sollten ohne Ego arbeiten und die von ihnen geleisteten Versprechen halten.

  3. Attachment and expectations makes us suffer I guess, not love. Loving someone without being emotional dependant won’t make us suffer.
    That’s what I think.

  4. In all honesty, everybody hurts. Even the one you love so much. And another fact is that when you love you become vulnerable, you are exposed to that person as bare as you could be. So, it comes to a point that you’ll be pissed. Because we are all different, we have different values and different experiences that shape us differently.
So even you love someone, indifferences always comes in between, and sometimes you fight, but that’s how it is with people: people are not always going to think the same as you.

Love is not complicated, it is just many things- perseverance, kindness, patience, honesty, sincerity, and the ability to know when you should give it all up

  5. One cannot define love… 🙂

“Love knows no bounds or time, love is the spirit of the heart, love is the life support of hope, love is the force behind compassion, love is the foundation for true friendships, relationships….without love, life is barren and cold”…. (Larry “Dutch” Woller)
