Its a simple question, yet one we must constantly ask ourselves if we’re going to be successful in our endeavors.
If we don’t fully understand our motivations, then we will never fully realize our goals, and reach our full potential.
Let me ask you something. When was the last time you really thought about why you’re doing what you’re doing?
Why did you take this job?
Why are you dating this person?
Why do you feel the need to impress these people?
Why did you go to that place?
Why did you eat that terrible food?
Why did skip your workout?
Why do you spend so much time on social media?
Why are you tired?
Why are you anxious?
Why are you depressed?
Why is your self-esteem so low?
Ultimately, this all leads to three basic questions:
1. Are you happy?
2. If not, why?
3. What are YOU going to do about it?
Its easy to get stuck in a rut. To continue doing something simply because its what we know. We’ve done it this way for so long that its easy, comfortable, familiar. These things still apply even if we know the situation is hurting us. Most people operate this way, or at least have at some point in their lives. I’m speaking from experience here. I’m a constant work-in-progress, and I write these posts as much for myself as for an audience.
When we begin to ask why though, and properly question our reasoning and motivations, we take the crucial first step in taking back control of our minds, bodies, spirits…lives.
When we begin to have honest conversations with ourselves about who we are, what we want and why we do the things that we do, we empower ourselves to do what is actually neccessary to get to where we want to be, not just whats easy, or the way its “supposed” to be done.
I can’t answer these questions for you, but I can tell you this: Once you begin to truly think on these things, you will also begin to gain the wisdom and strength you need to make positive changes in your life, and the lives of those around you.
Go conditional with your thoughts.
Don’t believe everything you think.
TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE.
You only get one shot. You owe it to yourself to give it all you’ve got, and make it count.
