Another one inspired by my wife. God bless you woman.
As I’ve navigated the ups and downs of life with social anxiety and depression over the past several years, I’ve been fortunate enough to have people close to me that do their best to keep me positive and grounded. One of these people is my wife, who I’ve talked about several times on my main blog. She gets me (for better or worse), and has shared many a sentiment with me that has kept me from going completely over the edge.
I discussed yesterday on my main blog my experience with my latest panic attack/depressive episode. The point being to share the good that came out of it, by way of a fresh perspective and healthier mindset. A lot of this was due to something my wife reminded me of. To quote the Rolling Stones, You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need.
I needed this reminder then, and as such, I’m incredibly grateful for it.
Its so true, yet sometimes so difficult to see in the midst of things apparently not going our way. If we look back in hindsight though, whether a situation was deemed positive or negative at the time, we can often see that we benefitted from it in some way, shape or form. Sometimes things challenge us a little. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes they allow us to hit rock bottom, to force us to make a change, to save us from ourselves, and from doing any more damage to others. I’m not implying there is deep cosmic meaning in every little thing that happens, but if you look back at the big events in your life, the relationships, jobs, activities that really stick out in your mind, even after many years have passed, they all taught you something, and many times provided you with knowledge or skill to help make you a better version of you today. It may be extremely difficult to see it now, but I challenge you to think on this. I feel confident that in more cases than not, you’ll find it to be true for you as well.
So, lets be thankful that things haven’t always gone “according to plan.” For getting what we need in life often turns out to be better than what we thought we wanted in the first place. 🙂
Hope everyone has had a great week thus far, and catch ya back here next week.
